PROMET FOUNDRY is engaged in the production and sale of castings made of grey cast and ductile iron. We focus primarily on manual casting. We also provide for the production of model equipment. More than half of the castings go to markets abroad, mainly to Germany, Sweden and Switzerland.

Located in Vsetín, PROMET FOUNDRY supplies castings to customers with basic machining and in a basic color or finish, including painting done by our affiliated company PROMET PREFIX.
Thanks to many years of experience, our foundry is able to produce complex components for electric motors from castings weighing on the order of tens of kilos or tons. We have traditionally supplied these parts to leading European manufacturers. More than half of the foundry’s total capacity of 8000 tons of castings go to foreign markets. Our castings can also be found in a number of elevator models for office and industrial buildings around the world.
PROMET FOUNDRY has long exchanged information and know-how with the parent group PROMET GROUP, which makes it possible to develop production programs in the long term and thus provide its customers with the maximum possible range of services within its own production output, as well as the services of affiliated companies, thus ensuring a complete portfolio.
We are part of the family-owned PROMET GROUP, which includes more than forty companies operating in the machinery, metallurgy and engineering industries. PROMET GROUP employs over four thousand people in the Czech Republic and abroad. The headquarters of the group is in Ostrava.

Supplier-customer relations with a focus on precision, surface treatment and timely delivery exactly according to customer requirements are important to us, but also intra-company relations, where we try to create a stable and safe working environment.
Our relationship with the environment is important to us. We minimize pollution and protect water and soil from spills of oil and chemical cleaning agents. We reduce the risk of leakage of dangerous substances at the point of use and in storage areas.
The company PROMET FOUNDRY is committed to continuous improvement, to the prevention of environmental pollution, to the fulfillment of legal and other requirements.
Founding of Thonet's foundry
The history of foundry in Vsetín dates back to the end of the 19th century, when the gray cast iron foundry was founded by the THONET company.
The new owner of Thonet's foundry
Electric machine manufacturer Josef Sousedík takes over the foundry. In his operations, he also produced engines for the legendary Slovenská strela motor train. Today, the national cultural monument is located in Kopřivnice.
The foundry is part of the ZSE Praha concern
After 1945, the foundry was organizationally integrated into the MEZ Vsetín within the ZSE Praha concern. Castings were produced not only for the needs of the company itself, but also for various companies within the republic.
Production expansion
After 1989, s.p. MEZ Vsetín became independent, which led to the expansion of the production program and acquisition of new customers. For this purpose, a new technology for the production of Lost Foam castings was purchased, imported from the USA, which was the only one in the Czech Republic and Europe.
The establishment of the Vsetín Foundry
As part of the privatization, the management of the foundry submitted a competitive privatization project, in which the privatization of the foundry was carried out in the form of a direct sale. The company Slévárna Vsetín spol. s.r.o. was incorporated on March 8, 1994 and purchased the foundry assets on January 1, 1996.
Better technology
In 1997, a fully automated molding line was purchased from the Italian company FOUNDRY AUTOMATION for the production of small and medium-sized gray and ductile cast iron castings. In addition, a continuous Škoda jet was installed, new production equipment for the production of cores, gas heating of the foundry.
New partner PERCENTO, spol. sr.o.
For the further development of the company, the owners of the foundry decided to find a strategic partner who, together with the current owners, will further modernize production and participate in the management of the company. This partner became the company PROCENTO, spol. s.r.o.
Preparation for the sale of the Vsetín Foundry
In order to stabilize the purchase and sale, this activity was concentrated under the commercial management of the company PROCENTO-METALURGIE spol. s.r.o. Since January 2000, the supply and sale of Slévárna Vsetín spol. s.r.o. realized through the company PROCENTO METALURGIE spol. s.r.o.

V únoru 2004 došlo k úplnému převzetí Slévárny Vsetín spol. s r.o. společností PROCENTO-METALURGIE spol. s r.o.
The foundry is part of the PROMET GROUP
The strategy of the new owner was a massive investment activity aimed at modernizing the foundry so that it would be able to meet the demanding requirements of its customers. In September 2005, the name was changed to PROMET FOUNDRY s.r.o., whereby the company was also included in the PROMET GROUP group of companies according to the name.

In 2007, PROMET FOUNDRY was transformed into a joint-stock company.
Modernization and reduction of emissions
Modernization of the technology of the existing foundry production on the premises of Promet Foundry a.s. The proposed measure consisted in the installation of 2 electric induction furnaces and the shutdown of the current cupola furnaces and the installation of an afterburner unit for the disposal of emissions of volatile organic substances arising in the castings' soaking room.
Air washer
PROMET FOUNDRY invested in an air scrubber to improve the conditions affecting the foundry's surroundings in terms of emissions and free flying substances.
Purchase of PROMET PREFIX
To support the foundry production in Vsetín, the PROMET GROUP bought the sister company ZPS Prefix (later PROMET PREFIX), thus expanding the foundry's services to include machining, painting and finalization of castings for customers.
Manufacturing for the marine industry
The foundry received the BV MODE II certificate authorizing the production of gray and ductile iron castings for the marine industry and technology.
Preparation of the greening project
The PROMET GROUP has started the preparation of the greening project of one of the oldest foundries in the Czech Republic
Launch of the greening project
Initiation of the project to green the operation of the PROMET FOUNDRY in the full scope of the production process, including the recycling of foundry sands, completely new air conditioning and filtration equipment, as well as the complete reconstruction and replacement of the roof and cladding of the hall.
Greening project finished
Towards the end of 2023, we completed the greening project, which is the most extensive investment in the history of the foundry.
